Year 9 Painting, Drawing and Printmaking

In this course students investigate experimental processes and techniques to produce artworks in a folio of drawings and prints, paintings and sculptures. They observe artworks from a range of cultural and historical contexts and learn to discuss and analyse artworks in order to understand how artworks comment on the society in which they are produced. This theory work will in turn have an influence on the pieces they produce.

This has been a very challenging semester for students as lockdown was called without much notice which meant no materials, no painting and no printmaking. We had to do the best we could with a small number of supplies sent home. Our Portrait paintings; in which we had made a start on at school now became drawings. Students were still able to focus on learning skills in proportions and value. Line, pattern and repetition were also focused upon in a self portrait hand project.
