Surrealism

For this task there were many elements explored. Firstly they started with drawing techniques and exploring drawing materials. This was a little tricky as it was during lockdown so students became creative with what could be used to draw with. They next studied and practiced one point perspective drawing and then brought what they had learnt into planning an artwork researching Surrealism. Consideration was made to a number of techniques used by Surrealist artists such as juxtaposition, scale, levitation, dislocation, transparency and transformation.

Still life - Tonal painting

Students studied composition and elements and principles of art. They arranged objects in the photographic studio and explored lighting to create strong Values so they could use the image for a tonal painting. Focusing on light and values, no outlines allowed using acrylic paint on canvas boards.
